Speaking of pita, I love gyros.

I'm gonna drive out to visit you, swim out, whatever, and we're going to have coffee and gyros. This summer.

ouch! turkeys!
unfortunately i do not partake in meat any longer. by choice... i think pig and bird were the first ones i stopped eating (though about 2 years ago i had a nibble on some turkey at christmas, and it tasted great, but made me feel sick afterwards).
the story (it's a short story) was that for my 18th birthday, my friend niki broke in to a poultry farm and stole me a battery hen. it was in pretty bad shape, beak and claws clipped and not a lot of feathers, and my task was to nurse it back to health... it was called shiloh. when i shifted away from home i drove around looking for places in the country that had free ranging hens and asked if they wanted another, and one did. so shiloh ( i like to imagine ) is in an idillic world with many other hens, roaming free and growing all her plumage back. the end.
this is ramble number one of many more to be expected. i call it 'how katie became a vegetarian'. *bows* thank you

haha *clap clap*
the thing with me is... i know how uncool it is to eat meat. especially in the entertainment world, but the only thing with me is i like to think of myself as a chef. I love to cook. and i feel i can't limit myself as to what i can use no matter how exotic or meaty... but if i was somekind of farmer and i had to kill the animals myself... FORGET IT! bring on the ba ba ganushe hahah.

beautiful!
i love to cook as well. bein' a vegetarian has forced me to search high and low for new ingredients to use. but i totally understand if people wanna eat meat... it doesn't bother me much.. as long as i don't have to see the slaughter and it being prepared before hand. it used to not bother me at all. maybe once or twice a year i'll eat fish... but a lot of the time i wouldnt' be able to afford meat anyway. not that tofu is less expensive. but yeah! mmmmm food!!
i'm goin' up to auckland today to sort out a loan *groans* for shifting in to my new place (which has the most beautiful kitchen by the way!) so it's hare krsna 'food for life' for lunch... this comes an incredibly close second to falefel.. and so cheap!

being a student (which i'm doing again this year) in new zealand introduces you to the likes of noodle hut (fake meat, fricken nuggets - as we like to call them - are particularly good, as are wolfdogs, vegetarian hotdogs on a stick with lots of mustard and sauce), hare ksna and felafel. i've sworn off nacho's though. i'm going to utilise this new kitchen as much as possible. i've been nomadic for about 4 months now, so it's time to start getting back into habitual cooking again...
