that is the name of our new restaurant adventures blog. because it sounds like a porn. i'm so excited!
am and i met up for some breakfast for dinner and went up to maxwell's in hoboken to rock out with markinthestudio and his jungle friends. maybe i'm just not with it anymore, but when we first walked in i felt like i was in an alternate universe of high school indie chic hell. they all. looked. the same. except for mary ann and ann marie. and mark and his jungle friends, who were sitting at the back dressed like cowboys.
we arrived at the end of the first set, just in time for hume to start. two girls (both played keyboard and one played guitar), a boy who played guitar and sang, and a fabulous drum machine, and i really liked them. they were cute and this guy who was probably the guitar and keyboard girl's dad kept taking pictures. i'm a sucker for keyboard pop rocky music. did i mention that robert moog spoke at my college graduation?
and then there was mark and his jungle cowboy friends, by far the best and most fun band of the night. they sang about their mustache growing contest and our professor whose facial hair kicked their asses. i vaguely remember it. and they were totally right, all the girls had a crush on him. it was an all around fun set, they were weird as hell and i loved it.
when i first got there mark told me that me and am were the only ones that showed up for them. i said, "do i get a prize?" and i was kidding but after their set him and justin came over to me and am and gave us cds and pins, which i thought was so sweet. i love my multimedias. justin told me that there's a plan for the alumni to jury this year's senior show, which if it actually happens, would be awesome times ten because i never wanna lose touch with my old department. a lot of my friends are unsatisfied with their college educations, so i feel extremely lucky to have been in a program with so many amazing artists from so many different backgrounds. for example in one class there would be people working on films, music, installations, and interactive art. end tangent.
anyway next was the sideways, whose singer am actually knew from the buck. he definitely looked familiar, which was weird. and they're all from my town too. yeah. they sucked. whiny minor chord slow depressing rock. i'll say it, they were emo as hell and took themselves way too seriously and i couldn't decide whether to cut myself or bust out laughing. yeah i said that. we stayed for their whole set because we knew them and felt bad that the place was nearly empty.
we got out of there fast and on the way home realized that we have at least five dinner dates to plan because we have to take each other to these awesome restaraunts/diners/cafes that the other hasn't been to. so we decided to make a web site about it because we're both vegetarians, we both love tea and coffee, listen to good music, our names are almost the same backwards, and ann marie loves asians. we decided to make a livejournal for it because that way, we already have a built in audience. plus it's easy to update and post pictures to. mary ann and ann marie eat out. HOORAY!
ps: markmartucci.com. listen to this stuff, it's awesome.
