ha! k... got it now! macaroni cheese and hot dogs (yes yes, we call them hot dogs here as well... we also call what you call hot dogs 'hot dogs'... but only when we make them at home, that's pretty much the only time we get 'em. they don't sell them at rugby games or whatever... or on the street. we refer to 'corn dogs' as hot dogs if you're going to the fish and chip shop down the road to get an order. )
however, i only eat vege-dogs. vegetarian sausage made like corn dog. we have a favorite greasy eatery here called 'the burgerie' and they do these awesome things called 'wolf dogs'. a vege dog in a long bun with onions (if you want) and watties tomato sauce and lots of mustard! YUM! i've had one. they're not something i could eat all the time tho! they are the king of decadent take away items!

hmm... i dunno if fish and chips is a foreign concept to americans still. it's a british thing. battered, deep fried fish (which i don't each) and chips (like shoestring fries, but cut real chunky instead) wrapped up in newsprint or newspaper. it's the bestest. hmm. i really can't think of anything at the moment. we call 'malls' shopping centres. but sometimes i call them malls for fun. i'll post as i think of more.
we have maori names for a lot of things.

i love maoris. i sang a maori song the other year in a choir, and then went to nz with the family (when i became enamoured with nz culture ;D ) and met the guy who arranged the song. it was awesome. and yeah, i've done the fish and chips thing. also minus the fish, lol.
